Todays verses: Mark 12:13 – 27

Godly Wisdom

The Pharisees often tried to catch Jesus in His words. They wanted to have something bad to say about Him – something they could accuse Him for. But that wasn´t easy – and in many occations they made up situations so they could make Him fall.

Today we can read about how they tried to catch Jesus in His words by asking Him a question. The Pharisees asked Jesus, “Should we pay taxes to Caesar?” Their intention was to trap Jesus – and here is what I think they wanted to do.

If Jesus said, “No, you should not,” they would accuse Him before Pontius Pilate of breaking the Roman law. If He said, “Yes, you should pay taxes to Caesar,” they would say to him, “See, You are with them.”

But Jesus, knowing what they were up to – and answered them in His wonderful wisdom.

The Pharisees marvelled at His answer and kept silent. They could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people.

God will give you a mouth and wisdom for every situation you encounter. Whether it is what to say or what to do, He will give you the wisdom to handle the situation.

So ask God for the Spirit of wisdom to operate in you. Remember, one who is greater than Solomon—Jesus—is in you. He is the wisdom of God. He is at the Father’s right hand and He is ready to become your wisdom in every crisis of your life, in every situation you face.

And then Jesus says something very interesting in verse 26-27. God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. As a christian you will never die – you will just go from one reality to another. They who have gone before us is just as alive – even more ailve – than we are today. These words are encouraging – when we miss our lovedones that have gone before us – lets remember: They are more alive than ever!

Have a blessed day
