Todays chapter: Mark 16

The ressurrection – our receipt!

WOW – what a miracle! Jesus has been raised from the dead!

It’s the most debated, controversial and the most important issue in the story of mankind – Jesus death and resurrection!

The resurrection of Jesus  is an important thing for us as Christians – and maybe the subject that has met most opposition from the secular forces in the world. Everyone agrees on that Jesus was a kind man, that He was a wise teacher and a prophet. That’s why we find Jesus in about every religion there is on earth today.

But the moment you say that Jesus is the Son of God – and that He has resurrected from the dead – all these people come against us. Why?

Paul says in 1. Corinthians chapter 15:

17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. 20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

The Bible says that Jesus died for our sins and was raised for our justification. And that’s why the resurrection is of big importance – it is crucial. And this is the most important thing in our Christian faith – we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for our sins – in our place. We further believe that all our sins was judged in Him – because if there would just be a tiny little sin that was not judged in Jesus – He would not been raised from the dead. The sin had no power over Jesus – and the ultimate consequence of sin is death.

That’s why the resurrection of Jesus is like a receipt for us who believe. You have a receipt that says the price is paid, that the work of Jesus at the cross is enough! You do not have to pay for any of your own sins, but you can have a clean conscience before God. How can that be? Because you have the receipt that says the price is paid – the resurrection of Jesus!

And because the price is paid – Jesus calls us to preach the good news – the gospel. And through His power we will preach the gospel and demonstrate His power!

You are bought with a heavy price – because Jesus loves you.

The price is paid – you have the receipt – and you can stand in front of God as though sin never existed in your life – because Jesus took your judgment. He is your righteousness!

Have a wonderful day!
