Todays verse: John chapter 12: 20-26

Todays scripture is somewhat strange. Jesus has become famous among the people in Israel and abroad. We can also read another place in the bible that they wanted to make Him king in Israel.

Jesus had resurrected Lazarus – after being dead for four days. Rumors had spread all throughout Israel and even as far as Greece. Now they had come to meet Jesus –they wanted to see who this man was.

Jesus could been surfing on the wave of popularity among the people. He could have got the whole nation and other nations to come and see miracles, listen to His wisdom and get excited.

But Jesus knew that this wasn’t the reason He had come. His purpose was to fulfil the law and to die in our place – for our sins. Thats why Jesus said that the hour had come when He would be glorified.´

Then He says something interesting in vers 24: Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

Jesus knew that if He would produce much fruit. If His life would be fruitful for you and me – He would have to die for us. By doing that – He would produce MUCH fruit.

This we can also read about in the prophet Isaiah’s book chapter 53:11 – 12

He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.

Then Jesus says something about the importance of how we priorities our life. We do not live for this world. This life on  earth is not the main purpose for mankind. No, we have something better in front of us – a life together with Jesus both her on earth and in heaven for eternity. He says in verse 25 that: He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

When someone has tasted the life that Jesus gives, nothing can compare with it. When someone has experienced Gods love – nothing can replace it.

Remember that Jesus loves you with an everlasting love. He has given everything for you – just because He loves you more than you can ever imagine.

You are greatly blessed – highly favored and deeply loved
